FACT: Phat filter delivers more fixed carbon per kg than competitors.
Don’t be misled by statements that heavier is better.
Put into perspective, a gram of 9 carat gold isn't the same as a gram of 24 carat gold.
Why?
Because impurities make up over half it's weight! With carbon, the same is true.
A carbon's total weight is made up of four important factors being actual carbon, waste volatiles, moisture and ash.
The more actual fixed carbon per gram the higher the adsorption factor.
Ash & volatiles are useless and moisture even worse, greatly detracting from the carbons ability to adsorb.
With pelletized carbon, bonding agents further add to the total weight.
It seems that RC-48 carbon used in Phat Filter is the only ASTM approved virgin carbon currently being offered for target pollens.
Upon many requests, no other filter manufacturer has produced the golden egg (ASTM results).
One might assume these manufacturers are not using virgin activated carbon at all.
In this instance Phat Filter's very light weight justifies the sheer purity of RC-48 virgin carbon in accordance to the provided ASTM.
